My father, an inspiration

Just yesterday my Dad sent me an email with a photo attached of a recent scratchboard he finished for a client of his.  It is the picture that you see to the left.

When my parents came to visit me this past summer my Dad thought that scratchboard would be an exciting medium to try and now he's hooked!  Mwahahaha!!  (My plan is to take over the world and make everyone try to create something with scratchboard at least once)

Now look at him, he's just amazing!  I've been encouraging him to post on the scratchboard forum over at WetCanvas.com but to no avail (at least yet).

My Dad is 75 (hope he doesn't kill me for saying so) and picked up a new art form just like that.  It simply goes to show that anyone of any age is never too young (even at 75) to start something new.  He's fearless and he's my hero.

Update:
Here's a sneak picture that I snapped of my Dad earlier this year in the New Salem historical site:

Wow, your father sounds like an awesome man. You are lucky to have such a wonderful dad! Scratchboard, eh? Never heard of it, but it sounds like fun!
Happy Holidays!

That is fantastic about your Dad....tell him "good on ya" from down here in Aus.

I love your work Sandra, it is just awsome - you may have some competition now eh!

These dads, these real dads, they fight for their children.

They are not content simply stepping to the side during a divorce. They do whatever they must in order to maintain their parental rights. They fight every battle that needs fighting, and they spend every penny that needs spending, even if it means putting themselves into a momentary financial nosedive. Real dads make their kids the prioritizing factor in every decision they make. They make sure that nothing and nobody takes precedence over their children. If needs be, they give up careers, homes, and dreams to be where there child is. They do it, and they do it at any cost.

Proud to be a Single Dad

Thanks Kelly! Your comment really made me smile.

Judy in Australia, oh how I envy you... it's summer over there now isn't it? Thank you for your very kind comment. My dad chuckled when he read what you said. He says he plans on being my competition! What have I started?

Jazzie, it appears that my post struck a chord with you. I'm a very fortunate person because I've had both of my parents there for me throughout my life. Their love and support is what has made me the woman I am today. I wish you and your child/children all the best for the future.
